CLEMATIS A-L

This is a guide only as clematis are in nature very variable according to the conditions they grow in.    The    clematis should be planted  about 4” deeper than the top of the pot in fairly rich soil but do not over do, the

fertiliser.    Prune in February in Cornwall or if you are unlucky enough to live outside of Cornwall in March.

Prune code 1 no pruning just remove excess wood

Prune code 2 just remove the thin tips as it flowers on last years wood

Prune code 3 hard prune to leave about 2 or 3 feet of plant. Flowers on this years wood

If you do not prune like a lot of people you will not kill the plant. You just accept that it will do its own thing.

WILL GROW THROUGH EVERGREEN "E" OR DECIDUOUS SHRUBS "S" OR TREES "T"  GROW CODE -  SE  or  S or STE
